The Communication Center employees students in two roles: Consultant and Center Assistant. We are currently expecting to hire next for the Spring 2022 semester. We welcome any and all questions about the positions available; please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please keep in mind that we are open Monday-Thursday 9am-8pm and Friday 9am-5pm.
If you are an undergraduate, a good communicator, and enjoy helping your fellow students improve their communication skills, join us! Consultants work with both undergraduate and graduate students in one-on-one sessions in person and online. If asked to interview, please be prepared to provide a writing sample and a reference.
For those who are interested in being a consultant who don't have any prior experience, LMC will be offering an advanced writing course in Spring 2022 that will introduce students to concepts in writing theory and provide opportunities to shadow consultants in the Communication Center. LMC 4813 (Tuesday/Thursday 3:30-4:45pm) is taught by Dr. Melissa Ianetta and Dr. Caitlin Kelly.
Responsibilities include greeting everyone who enters the Center, managing appointments, answering telephone and e-mail queries, and directing visitors to the appropriate people.
